To design sustainably,
is to think generationally.

We believe great architecture should do more than satisfy a brief. It should improve the lives of those who use it, strengthen the places it belongs to, and respond to the environmental challenges of our time.

We approach every project holistically, balancing people, place and planet to create architecture that is enduring in both purpose and performance.

People.

Great architecture begins with understanding people. Every project should be shaped around the way it will be lived in, experienced and enjoyed, creating buildings that are comfortable, intuitive and designed to enrich everyday life. We believe successful architecture is not defined solely by how it looks, but by how it functions, adapts and continues to serve those who use it for years to come.

From the earliest conversations through to project completion, we place collaboration at the centre of our process. By listening carefully, communicating openly and working closely with our clients, consultants and contractors, we build strong relationships founded on trust, honesty and shared ambition. Combined with a commitment to quality, technical excellence and thoughtful design, this collaborative approach allows us to deliver architecture that is both enduring and deeply personal.

Place.

Every site deserves its own response. Rather than applying a predetermined style or repeating a signature aesthetic, we begin by understanding the unique qualities that define a place. We take cues from context, vernacular architecture, landscape, heritage, climate and the way people experience a site, allowing these influences to inform a design that feels authentic and appropriate rather than imposed.

By carefully considering how a building sits within its surroundings, we create architecture that belongs; responding to both the physical characteristics of a place and the wider story it tells. Our approach seeks to balance innovation with restraint, delivering contemporary architecture that is sensitive to its setting and designed to endure. The result is buildings that respect what already exists, enhance their environment, and make a lasting, positive contribution to the places and communities they become part of.

Planet.

Environmental responsibility is fundamental to the way we design. We adopt a fabric-first approach wherever possible, prioritising fabric and building performance through orientation, insulation, airtightness and thoughtful detailing, before relying on renewable technologies. Our approach is informed by the principles of the AECB and Passivhaus Trust, helping us create buildings that use less energy, provide healthier environments and perform efficiently throughout their lifetime.

Our commitment extends beyond our projects. Studio Harrison is an Ecologi member as part of our commitment to becoming a Climate Action Workforce, helping to fund verified climate solutions including reforestation and carbon reduction projects. We are also proud donors of 1% for the Planet, supporting environmental organisations working to protect and restore the natural world.

Together, these commitments reflect our belief that thoughtful architecture should create lasting value—not only for today’s clients, but for future generations and the planet we all share.
